SIASIA SNUBS MOSES, IHEANACHO FOR UNDER-23

Head coach of the Nigeria Under-23 team Samson Siasia has named five players from the Nigeria Under-20 team that campaigned at the last Under-20 world cup in New Zealand in his Under-23 camp ahead of the 2016 Olympic qualifiers against Congo next month.

Top on the list is talented goal scorer, Taiwo Awniyi who scored the two goals that gave Nigeria the 2-1 win over Zamia in Lusaka, captain of the Flying Eagles, Musa Mohammed, Saviour Godwin, defender Onyinye Ndidi who plays professional football in Belgium as well as midfielder, Musa Yahaya who just joined English side, Tottenham Hotspur.

Two notable omission from the coach list of players called up is the duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Moses Simon.

Simon who won the league title with Gent in Belgium was heavily tipped to be called up by Siasia as as Iheanacho who is rated as one of Manchester City top youth prospect.

The omission of the duo might be connected with the bit part role they played for Nigeria at the last World Youth Championship in New Zealand with Moses making just one substitute appearance while Iheanacho started one game and made another appearance as a substitute.
